F2F Meeting in Bari and Final dissemination Event, October 1-2, 2019
The final dissemination event of the Bioclean project was held in Bari from October 1 to 2, 2019. The meeting was hosted by the University of Bari, in the city center. It was preceded, on September 30, by a restricted access meeting, which was scheduled at the Chemistry Department and was more focused on scientific/technical details, to be specifically assessed among the partners.
On October 1 and 2, about 100 students and researchers attended the dissemination event, which was announced on the web, as well as on social media, and on the UNIBA Radio channel. The program of activities started with a general presentation of the project by Drs. Brooker and Robles (Procter & Gamble). Four invited lectures were scheduled at the starting of the following four technical sessions. In particular, Prof. Mizaikoff (University of Ulm) opened Session I with a lecture titled “Seeing more by looking at less: Recent advancements in infrared biospectroscopy”. Professor Rusconi (Humanitas University Research Hospital) reported on “Bacterial biofilms under flow: How fluid mechanical forces affect surface colonization and streamers formation” at the starting of the second Session. Dr Stephen Donaldson (Procter & Gamble) opened the third Session with his lecture on “Industrial Microbiology and his perspective on Antibacterial resistance”, while Dr Sara Tufi (Associate Publisher, Elsevier ) opened the fourth Session with a seminar titled “How to write great papers and get published: Understanding the benefit of the publishing process”
All of the 14 ESR students were involved in the dissemination event. Each of them gave a 20 minute presentation about the main scientific outcomes of their project. The ESR talks were programmed during Sessions I to III and some students took also the occasion to expose posters related to technical aspects of their project. The detailed program of the meeting is attached to this report as annex 1.
The regional channel of national television (RAI3) has dedicated a reportage to the Bioclean project. In the report there are interviews with the head of the Bari node (prof. Palazzo), the 4 ESR who graduated in Bari (Angarano, Cimmarusti, Ruscigno and Valentini) and now work in the rest of Europe within the project and the ESR who is doing his doctorate in Bari (Mateos).
